Much warmer April (1.2 degrees) than the average (16.1 degrees); also 30.0 mm more than average rainfall (42.5).
TEMPERATURE
Average daily minimums were 11.8 degrees C and maximums were 21.1 C. These figures were approximately 1.2 degrees warmer than the latest 30-year average. Geelong’s maximum was 29.7 C on the 17th and minimum was 6.4 C on both the 23rd and 24th.
RAINFALL
Geelong’s rainfall doubled on the last day of April so that the wettest day was 37.0 mm at Breakwater on the 30th and there were 12 wet days. The urban area and nearby districts received well above average rainfall but some areas of the Otways were not so blessed.
OTHER FEATURES
One thunder-lightning day was experienced in the the district (especially Birregurra) on the 29th and no strong wind gusts over 60 km/h occurred.
