RAINFALL
Although rainfall for September was below average virtually across the whole region from the Bellarine Peninsula to the Otways, there are few complaints. Geelong’s water catchments are at 90% of capacity and the year so far has been well above average. Average across urban Geelong was around 35 mm, compared to the long-term average of 49 mm. Normal totals for Geelong to the end of September are around 380 mm, but to date this year we have received around 470 mm, thanks to high totals in the early months.
TEMPERATURE
Geelong’s daily minimums averaged 8.0 degrees C and maximums 18.7 C. Despite the change in the site these figures would equate to around half a degree warmer than the Geelong long-term September average temperature.
