RAINFALL
A barely average November rainfall around urban Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula produced an oasis compared to lower than average falls in the Otways and Great Divide in what overall was a disappointing result.
Urban Geelong averaged 45 mm compared to the 30-year average of 52.8 mm. Catchment areas were much lower and total water storages are at 77% of capacity.

It is not a happy picture because only a little over half of the normal 30-year average rain has been received this spring.
TEMPERATURE
Geelong was 1.1 degrees warmer than the 30-year mean November figure: 16.9 degrees C compared to 15.8 degrees C. It was warmer than last year (15.4 C) but cooler than our hottest November in 2009 (18.1 C), There were 6 days over 30 degrees C this month, the hottest being 35.4 C on the 8th.
It was also our equal warmest spring overall (with 2011) since records began in 1903 – the mean spring temperature this year was 15.3 C compared to the 30-year average of 13.8 C.

OTHER DETAILS
In a fairly typical November we had 3 thunder days but no severe storms, one occasion of light hail on the 1st and 2 days of strong wind gusts over 60 kph at Breakwater. The windiest day was the 1st with a gust of 69 kph.
