SUMMARY
Geelong was cooler than normal and drier than the 30-year average.
TEMPERATURE
The warmest day reached 21.1 C on the 2nd and the coldest night fell to 1.2C on the 23rd. The coldest day was the 31st with a top of 9.5 C. Overall the month averaged 7.9 C minimum (30-year average 8.2) and the highest averaged 16.4 C (compared to the 30-year average of 17.2 C. Two minimums of 1.8 C and 1.2 C fell below on the 23rd and 24th and counted as both frost days.
RAINFALL
For most of the month very light rain occurred on 14 days with 5.5 mm falling on the 26th. Most of the surrounding area including the Otways and Bellarine Peninsula received well below average rainfall.
OTHER FEATURES
Fogs occurred on several days. No days of strong wind gusts of 60 kmh occurred in May and no thunder days were recorded.

Hottest max temp: 31.3°C on 4th March.
Coldest min temp: 1.2°C on 23rd May.
Wettest Day: 37 mm 30th April.
Windiest Day: 52 km/h gust at Breakwater on 8th March, uncharacteristic at Geelong for autumn.
Overall statement: Autumn was characterised by warmer than average temperatures and wetter than average rainfall, mainly due to 70 mm in April.
