TEMPERATURE
Much higher than the normal month has resulted in higher than average temperatures. The average minimum temperature was 7.9 degrees (30-year average was + 0.7 degrees) and the average maximum temperature was 20.2 degrees (30-year average was +3.1 degrees).
RAINFALL
Lower than average rainfall has been the lowest El Nino rainfall for all months this year. Geelong reached 6.8 mm for September which is the lowest rainfall for the year so far.
OTHER FEATURES
Violent wind gusts stronger than 60 km/hr saw two days exceed strong winds on the 7th and 8th. Geelong had very strong winds over 67 km/hr on both days, showing winds 67 and 78 km/hr on both days. On the 8th, Avalon reached 102 km/hr, Point Wilson 96, Geelong 78, Breamlea 79, Werribee 90, and several suburbs like Bell Post Hill 100 km/hr showing serious S.E.S. damage.
