(Most figures are from the Bureau of Meteorology station at Mount Duneed – called “Geelong AP AWS” until June 1^st, then at Breakwater “Geelong Racecourse AWS” from June 2nd, with all temperature and rainfall averages from 1992-2010)

JUNE	AWS moved to Racecourse at Breakwater on 2nd. Avalon AP slightly colder than average by 0.3 C. Warmest 20.0 on 2^nd, coldest day 10.5 on 21^st, coldest overnight 1.5 on 16^th. (-0.7 at Mt Duneed on 1^st) 2 frosts.	Av max 14.9. June av max at Mt D is 14.4 Av min 6.8. Av at Mt D is 6.2.	Breakwater 32.8. Urban area averaged 40 mm. June normal is 42.2.	Mt D – Bkwtr 354.0 mm. Well above av rain most areas. Otways just below. Catchments 87%. 6 thunder days. 1 severe storm w/flash flooding (89 mm on 27th – wettest Nov day). Much damage. 1 tornado near Skipton on 9th.
DEC	Warmer by about 0.3 C. Warmest day 35.2 C on 31st. Highest min 19.2 C on 9th. Nil strong wind gusts. 4 thunder-days.	Av max 22.7 Dec av max is 22.7. Av min 12.9. Av is 11.0.	Breakwater 21.8. Urban area averaged 22 mm. December normal is 40.1.	Mt D – Bkwtr 670.0 mm Urban area 686 mm. Normal Geelong AP cumulative total (12 months) is 525.4 mm.	Generally well below av rain except on Bellarine Pen. 1 severe storm with flash flooding in Curlewis – Drysdale – Clifton Springs on 10th. Also tornado with large hail W of Ballan on 25th. Catchments 86.3%.

OVERALL: New records (extremes) set: Wettest November day (89 mm on 27th), Wettest spring-summer since 1871; Warmer by est 0.5 deg C (1992-2010 mean 14.2C); Tornadoes: 2 – near Skipton (9th Nov) and Ballan (25th Dec) and funnel cloud on May 9th; Willy-willies: nil; Hottest Day: 39.6C on 1st Feb; Warmest Night: 20.4C on 13 ^th Jan ; Coldest Day: 10.5C on 21^st June& 23^rd July; Coldest Night: minus 0.7C on 1st June ; Wettest Day: 89 mm to 9am on 27th Nov (Nov record); Wettest Month: Nov 136.4 mm ; Driest Month: August 19.6 mm; No of Days above 30°C: 14 (average 21); Number of “Thunder Days” in Urban area: 19 (14 in 2010) ; Number of severe storms: 4 ; Fatalities: nil; Strongest Wind Gust: 98 kph on 19th Feb at Mt Duneed; Number of frosts: 6 (av = 15); Number of windy days (gusts >60kph): 25 (48 in 2010).
